For 2020 World Oceans Day is growing the global movement to call on world leaders to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030. This critical need is called 30x30. By safeguarding at least 30% of our ocean through a network of highly protected areas we can help ensure a healthy home for all!

Commitments

Challenge people at work, school, or in your community to make an individual commitment to a more ocean-friendly lifestyle. Focus on reducing plastic use, recycling, energy consumption, or alternative transportation. Keep in mind the 5 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose, and Refuse.

Businesses and organizations can make a lasting commitment to the ocean as well. Commit to using less plastic in your facility or adopt other sustainable practices and make an announcement on World Oceans Day.

Community Recognition

Give recognition to the hardworking men and women, young and old, who are helping to save our ocean! Host an awards night or recognition dinner to highlight the projects being worked on in your local community. Featuring successful projects will not only reward the hard work of local environmentalists but will inspire others to get involved.

Pledges

Develop an ocean pledge for your visitors or community to sign that will benefit your local area and the ocean as a whole. Pledges can list things individuals can do to have a positive impact on the ocean. Display these promises in your community or share them on social media to show public support for ocean conservation.
